$ 99 Hands-on Workshop
Canon Live Learning San Francisco
201 California St.
Suite 100
San Francisco, California 94111

We all walk by things on the street not actually seeing what’s around us. Photographers seek to become more aware of our surroundings and may notice small or large objects of art commissioned by the city or an architectural firm who designed a nearby building or structure.

The challenge in public art is capturing the essence of its creation and how it impacts its environment. There are thousands of commissioned pieces in San Francisco and this photo walk will capture some of the most obvious, and most obscure.

During this workshop, our resident architecture photography pro Dave Henry will walk you through the streets of San Francisco and help you visualize ways to separate obscure public sculptures from the clutter of the street and challenge you to capture the essence of the artist’s creation.

He’ll cover shooting techniques used in street, architectural and product photography that will help you complete the visualization circle. Learn how selective focus and depth-of-field are used to help manage perspective and use tilt-shift lenses to isolate a subject with swing or tilt movements.

You’ll discover a whole new world of photographic possibilities.
