Mastering Low Light Photography
201 California St.
San Francisco, California 94111
Setting electronic flash aside, photographing with existing light has always been a compelling way to capture images, so much so that it’s become an identifiable style for some photographers. Success can be elusive for many.
Today’s high ISO digital SLR technology is good. Low-light image quality was unthinkable only a few years ago. Now, with today’s high ISOs, there’s never been a better time to really explore the possibilities with existing light. In this program, our resident photojournalist and Live Learning instructor, Dave Henry, will move you past the challenges of dimly lit areas, giving you the knowledge and confidence to get truly better pictures in situations where flash may not be the right answer.
He’ll cover shooting techniques used in street photography, night skylines, star field and star trail photography, amusement parks, fireworks and much more. Then he’ll cover menu-processing tips that will change your way of thinking about digital noise. When the sun goes down, you’ll discover a whole new world of photographic possibilities. You’ll be inspired to get out of the house to shoot at times when you thought all you could do was watch television!
