Speedlites for Outdoor Photography
201 California St.
San Francisco, California 94111
Normally we think of using a Speedlite when there is little or no light. There are however many situations when a Speedlite can improve your pictures even if you have plenty of available light.
When photographing outdoors our light source is the sun and we can’t control the amount of ambient light from the sun. Speedlites allow us to light up our subject if it’s in the shade of fill in harsh shadows created by the sun.
What if the light is so bright we are forced to use a small aperture to control the background exposure and we lose the ability to create shallow depth of field for a portrait. Canon Speedlites have a high speed sync feature that will allow us to use any shutter speed on the camera so we can use a larger aperture and control our depth of field.
Sound a bit confusing? It’s really not, but learning in person is a lot easier. After this class you will be know how to use your Speedlite even in the brightest conditions. Make sure to bring your camera and speedlite as this class will be both lecture and hands on shooting.
